Start with airflow
A dirty filter, blocked return, weak blower, or closed supply vent can make the AC run constantly without moving enough cold air.
If the air feels weak at multiple vents, stop guessing and schedule a diagnostic before the coil freezes.
Look for water and ice
Water near the air handler can point to a clogged condensate line or a frozen coil thawing out.
Ice on the refrigerant line usually means the system needs to be turned off and checked; running it frozen can make the problem worse.
Electrical parts fail under heat
Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, and compressor-related components can fail during long Miami-Dade heat cycles.
A technician can test the system safely and explain whether the repair is practical or whether the equipment is nearing replacement age.
Quick checklist
- Confirm the thermostat mode and temperature.
- Change the filter if it is dirty.
- Check for weak airflow at vents.
- Look for water near the indoor unit.
- Call if the outdoor unit is silent, loud, or short cycling.
